Teaching Assistants

Bidwell Brook School in Dartington, part of the Learn to Live Federation, is a Special School for children and young people aged 3 - 19 with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties. We have several Teaching Assistant vacancies.

You will support students as part of a class team. We offer a child centred curriculum and you will enable our students to access learning opportunities and to achieve their full potential both educationally and emotionally. You will help deliver pre-planned learning, care and therapy programmes in an inspiring learning environment.

Although previous experience of working with children in an educational setting is preferable, it is as important to be positive, have enthusiasm, empathy and a willingness to learn and follow instructions.

You will have excellent communication skills, be confident using IT, be flexible and resilient.

The vacancies are:
Monday to Friday (30 hours and 40 minutes) salary pay range from £17,436.70 to £17,995.18.

Two or three days per week (12 hours or 18 hours) salary pro rata for part time

Working hours are 8.50am to 3.20pm, with a 4pm finish on a Tuesday for a team meeting.

All positions are term time working, 39 weeks per year.

MEAL TIME ASSISTANTS

Bidwell Brook School are seeking Meal Time Assistants to commence asap.

Working as part of a team, with Teaching Assistants and Teachers, you will help supervise and support students during lunchtime and playtime, this will involve supporting students with their lunch, supporting groups in the dining room, clearing up after lunch and supporting students during playtime to help initiate and lead appropriate, fun and safe playtime activities, attend to minor incidents whilst ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times.

Although previous experience of working with children in a play or education setting is preferable, it is as important to have enthusiasm, empathy and a willingness to learn and follow instructions.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 11.45am to 13.45pm, totalling 10 hours per week, term time working (39 weeks per year) with a starting salary of £5,216.13 (pay award pending).
